Door
closer's and door controls are
vital to the operation of any door. The basic function of a closer is to use
a hydraulic action to close a door after it has been opened. This makes sense
as what use is a security lock on a
door if the door wont close when opened, what use is a set of fire doors if
they remain open and what would be the point of an access
control system if the authorised people where to pass through the door and
it was to remain open afterwards???
A
closer also works in conjunction with the hinges to give a smooth action when the door closes. Correctly specified hinges and door closer's prolong the life of the door and its hardware.
Closer's
take into account many variable when fitted to a door, listed below is a glossary
of terms that apply to a closer and we hope that you find them helpful in selecting
the requirements for your specific application -

- "Latching". This term refers to the action of the closer at the
end of its closing arc. By adjusting the latching action of the closer you can
accelerate the speed of the closer in its final closing cycle to overcome any
resistance that the latch of a door lock may provide giving the closer the ability
to "slam" the door into its frame.

- "Delayed Closing". This term refers to the action of the closer
as it begins to close the door. By adjusting the closer it can creep at a slower
speed in the first part of its closing cycle. When the door reaches approx 75
degrees it then reverts to its standard closing speed. This mode is used in
hospitals, offices etc where a person would need more time to pass through a
door.

- "Back-Check". This term refers to how the closer operates in adverse
conditions. An example might be where a door could be blown by wind. A back-check
action applies a buffer resistance to the closer when it opens over approx 85
degrees. Therefore it cushions the action of the closer reducing the chance
of the closer slamming against a wall or a frame.

Then
325VP Model has a separate power adjustment, by means of an Allen Key
at the end of the closer body. It can be adjusted to suit door widths
from 850mm to 1250mm.

EM Electromagnetic Hold Open Fire Door Closer
Designed
for maximum safety in the most potentially hazardous and demanding EN1155
installations.

Architectural`s 600 series electr magnetic closer has been designed to
satisfy the specifier who is looking for a multi-use Electronic closer,
incorporating swing-free and hold open in one unit. When fitted in swing
free mode the door operates as if no hydraulic door closer is fitted,
until such times as the Fire Alarm or hazard warnings are activated, at
which time the door will automatically closes to prevent the spread of
fire. This is ideal for use in care homes, hospitals, clinics, municipal
buildings, schools, colleges,libraries,theatres,pubs, clubs and hotels.

series concealed door closer.
F or the specifier who needs the power, and the aesthetic appearance of
the door is paramount
The
Arrow 700 series single-action concealed door closer has been developed
to combine power with elegance incorporated in a slide arm closer. Whilst
maintaining the aesthetics of the door. Based on Arrow`s tried and tested
construction, extruded aluminum body, hardened and ground steel rack and
pinion, independent speed and latching valves with needle roller bearings
to facilitate smooth operation. The Arrow 700 series concealed door closer
is non handed so specifying left or right hand models is a thing of the
past, and can be fitted to any door with a minimum leaf thickness of 44mm. |

Door
Closer Covers
All
of the closer's in our range can be supplied with colour coordinated covers
and arms to match the colour scheme of the building or the architectural
hardware on the door. The covers are supplied as either a boxed or radiused
shape to give the closer a smoother look.
The
range of colour's compliment the surroundings in which the closer is fitted
and can also dramatically change the aesthetics of the closer allowing
it to blend in with its surroundings. Therefore, the closer no longer
stands alone on the door aside from the door hardware and begins to fit
in as part of the door.
The
closer covers can be supplied in stainless steel, polished finishes such
as brass or chrome but can also be supplied to BS or RAL colour coated
finishes. You can also have the closer arms supplied polished or plated
to suit the finish of the closer. |

800 Series Electromagnetic Door Holder
These
units are designed to be used in conjunction with a standard door closer
and will hold the door open magnetically until such time when the fire
alarm is activated. On activation of the fire alarm, the unit is wired
into the fire alarm system and will release the door to close under the
hydraulic action of the standard closer fitted to it.
The
unit is designed to be wall mounted and is supplied with an armature plate
that fixes to the door. The unit can be flush or surface mounted onto
the wall but it can also be supplied with a floor mounting bracket. The
unit has a test switch built onto it so at any time you can simulate the
fire alarm being activated.
The
unit has a silver finish as standard but it can also be supplied in a
range of polished or plated finishes. |
